“There is no chance, no destiny, no fate, that can circumvent or hinder or control the firm resolve of a determined soul.” - Ella Wheeler Wilcox
People tell us who they are if we are open to see it. People also tell us how they see us if we’re willing to listen. Today I woke inspired as though I finally understand the truth behind these details of my life's work.
It is said 'it’s just one life' but it feels so many more, as though they’ve all been pieced out separately then layered atop one another. Now looking at my art, at the stories I’m telling, I realize they’re of these different lives. Sometimes it is a reflection not just of how I see but how the world might. I’ve always been the introvert watching everything. Observing the manner in which people interact and how that behavior changes the moment a different energy is introduced. I’m drawn to outcasts or the misfits, things that are against the grain of accepted mainstream social norms. My work is as eclectic in style as I am; A walking contradiction that lives and sees outside the box. April 3rd, 2021 |
